The reason I say this is that given all the great things BEING HEALTHY provides them with, why do people continue to EAT AND DRINK UNHEALTHY STUFF and why they don’t bother to consume HEALTHY FOODS AND BEVERAGES?
Let me tell you a true story that happened a few days ago. We were invited to stay with close friends in their summer house in Bodrum and had a great time swimming and sunning and eating/drinking for five days.
Pictured below is their lovely terrace, and that’s my reflection taking the photo.
A few years ago this friend had brought us a bottle of Black Cumin Seed Oil and when I asked him why, he said it was a cure for many health problems, particularly DIABETES. I have been drinking one or two teaspoons a day ever since, even though I have no health problems. Recall my post “Why Does this Guy Consume All the Unusual Things He Told Us About in the Last Post”, May 19, 2015. I noticed that my friend was pricking his finger a few times every day and measuring his blood glucose. Yes, he had diabetes, was on medication, and I guess because of his reliance on the medication did not refrain from eating sugary desserts, bread, etc.
I asked him if he was using Black Cumin Seed Oil; he just stared back at me. HE WAS NOT.
If there is even a remote possibility that something might be good for your health if you consume it, why do people ignore this? I am not suggesting that you eat fried grasshoppers and chocolate covered ants (both of which are delicious, by the way) but at least consume the following once in a while:
- Coconut Oil
- Kombucha and Water Kefir
- Ground Cloves
- Bicarbonate of Soda
- Apple Cider Vinegar (with the mother)
- Shitake Mushrooms
- Turmeric, Ginger and Cinnamon
- Pumpkin Seeds
- Black Cumin Seed Oil
All are easy to get hold of and won’t cost you that much. Far cheaper than MEDICATION.
I’ll bet not many who are on statin drugs, high blood pressure drugs, diabetes drugs, sleeping pills, antidepressants, etc., have calculated how much they spend on these every year. Please do the calculation and see for yourself.
Please re-read the above post and see what my suggestions can do for your health.
DON’T YOU WANT TO BE HEALTHY?
Now lets look at the other side of the story: THE BAD THING PEOPLE INSIST ON CONSUMING.
The two beauties above are my daughter Çiğdem and my granddaughter Hannah. You may recall from my “A Short Break” post that they are visiting us right now.
A few days ago, they went grocery shopping and I saw that they had purchased some king of fruit juice, which I don’t recommend anyway (eat the fruit), but to add insult to injury it contained HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP as the sweetener. JUST READ THE LABELS Çiğdem.
If my daughter does this how can I expect some of my readers not to?
Please re-read my “Nutrition/Health” post, March 11,02015, to see the dangers associated with consuming the NEVER EAT/DRINK category. I go into a detailed warning as to what you lay yourself open to. What were these?
*Processed foods (what they contain is the problem)
* Trans fats
* High Fructose Corn Syrup
* Artificial sweeteners
* Anything with artificial coloring
* Mono Sodium Glutamate (MSG)
* Any foods with GMO
Warnings have started coming out in the Turkish media recently regarding MSG. As I haven’t gone over the health hazards associated with MSG in the past, a brief warning list:
- Eye damage
- Fatigue and disorientation
Do you really want to consume something like this? READ THE LABELS. These terrible people also play with the names of this flavor enhancer. Just stay away from anything that has “…. glutamine or glutamate….” in it.
I sympathize with the fact that you may really “miss” some of the foods I advise you not to consume: For example, bread, pizza, potatoes, legumes, cheese, etc.
Just follow the 80-20 rule; eat PROPERLY for 80 percent of the time and indulge for 20 percent of the time. BUT DON’T OVERDUE IT.
I have a close friend who is literally addicted to bread. In cases like this, I advise something like TAPPING (Emotional Freedom Technique). Read the post published on July 7, 2015.. Another friend has minimized her migraine attacks with tapping, so why not try it for an addiction?
One of the most important reasons to ADAPT A HEALTHY LIFSTYLE (Consuming the right foods, exercising/being active and having a healthy state of mind) is THAT YOU ARE PRONE TO MUCH LESS DAMAGE WHEN YOU TRANSGRESS. Please keep this in mind.
