Everyone needs more anti-inflammatory foods in their diet. Inflammation causes a ton of annoyances throughout your body, from bloating in the stomach to swollen fingers and toes, and even redness or irritation in the skin. Keeping inflammation at bay can even help ensure all of your body’s systems run smoothly – which is very important today when everyone wants to boost their immune system.
These are the best anti-inflammatory foods you can eat to improve your immune system as a whole:
Red Bell Peppers
Red bell peppers contain extremely high amounts of vitamin C – even higher than most citrus fruits. Taking in vitamin C helps support your immune system so you are better prepared to fight against colds and viruses.
Garlic
Not only is it excellent for increasing your metabolism, garlic helps your body fight infection due to the chemical compounds found in it. Fortunately, this vegetable is used in a variety of recipes, so it won’t be hard to add more of it to your diet.
I eat a big tablespoon full of black garlic every morning. Take a look at my post dated December 3, 2019.
Ginger
There is a reason people recommend ginger tea when you are not feeling well. This aromatic spice fights against inflammation associated with being sick, like a sore throat or swollen glands. Plus, it’s anti-bacterial; i.e. kills germs.
Yogurt
It really bugs me that it’s called “Greek” yogurt in the US; it is as much Turkish as it is Greek.
Anyway. Yogurt can help stimulate your immune system because of the probiotics and active cultures in it. It’s also filled with compounds like calcium and vitamin D, which strengthen the body and help defend against disease.
I suggest homemade yogurt.
Green Tea
Even though it’s not technically a food, we include green tea in the list because it is loaded with antioxidants that can help strengthen the immune system. The amino acid L-theanine is found in green tea, and this is great for strengthening T-cells that protect against germs.
That’s it for now my friends; see you all the next time.
