If you’ve noticed, I didn’t say “cold season” because it is not being exposed to cold that makes you sick, it is because your immune system cannot cope. We are exposed to all these viruses and bacteria constantly, then why aren’t we sick all the time? I’ve written about this before; remember our microbiome? Look at my post of March 26, 2015.
First, I’ll summarize what you have to do to boost your immune system and then I’ll make some suggestions as to how you might get relief if you’ve come down with the sniffles or the flue.
Remember that we live in a symbiotic relationship with over 100 trillion bacteria, viruses, fungi, etc., according to Wikipedia, but 500 trillion from what I’ve read. Many of these pathogens are beneficial and constitute our immune system.
About 90 % of our immune system is in our gut. That is why I strongly urge that we feed the beneficial bacteria in our gut with probiotics. They are the food for the good bacteria. Look at my post of March 26, 2015.
What are probiotics?
- Yogurt made from raw milk at home,
- Kefir (again preferably made at home)
- Fermented vegetables,
- Organic apple cider vinegar (with mother)
What NOT TO EAT:
- Sugar and any food that contains sugar,
- High Fructose Corn Syrup (it is in many foods), artificial sweeteners,
- Grains (same effect as sugar),
- Processed foods. This means anything in a can, box, or bag.
Eating these foods will do harm to the beneficial bacteria in your gut and will eventually result in candida. Look at my post of September 28, 2015.
Another thing that I’ve written about before is how one shouldn’t harm the microbiome with daily showers using soap and shampoo. I shower everyday with just water and use a “good” soap and “good” shampoo once very 7-10 days.
I remember not going to the office, calling in sick, because I couldn’t take a shower due to a water pipe problem a long time ago. One and one’s body and hair get used to showering with just water in a very short time. So, don’t turn up your nose to this suggestion; it is good for your microbiome and your IMMUNE SYSTEM.
Now lets talk about what you do if you do succumb to the sniffles and/or the flue.
When you feel it coming on:
- Mix a half teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate in a glass of water and drink this mixture 6 times the first day, 4 times the second day and twice daily from then on. You should to the twice a day even if you’re not sick.
- Have someone put 3 drops of hydrogen peroxide in one ear, lay on that side for 5 minutes, then do it to the other ear.
You’ll be amazed at the results.
You’ve probably read about this as it is a very serious problem; the overuse of antibiotics worldwide has resulted in a resistant strain of bacteria that are very hard, if not impossible, to kill. The danger of worldwide epidemics is very real.
So, while on the topic of antibiotics, keep in mind that antibiotics just kill bacteria, NOT VIRUSES. Viruses cause flues, so antibiotics have no affect on them.
DON’T TAKE ANTIBIOTICS TO CURE THE FLUE AND COMPOUND THE WORLDWIDE PROBLEM.
Last week, we had a lovely class reunion lunch and the subject got around to a mixture that will amaze you. When I told my classmate Ali Arda, pictured below with his lovely family, about it, he convinced me to write about it in the blog.
It tastes very good and our beautiful daughter-in-law Zeynep, pictured below, swears that she and her husband Emin cured their flu, with fever, by just drinking this mixture thrice a day.
Here’s what you do:
Ingredients: Half a teaspoon of ground turmeric
Half a teaspoon of ground ginger
Half a teaspoon of ground cloves
Half a teaspoon of ground cinnamon
Half a teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
Mix these with a little honey, juice of half a lemon, juice of half a tangerine and pour some boiling water over it and stir.
You’ll love the taste. Drink about 3 cups a day. Zeynep, apparently likes doing shots with this elixir.
I wish you all GOOD HEALTH. See you next week.
