Why do I make such a statement? Because many people around me carry pillboxes, like the one pictured below, with them or keep them at home when not travelling. Unfortunately, I cannot say that all these pills they take have “made them better”.
Remember that ALL MEDICATION HAVE SIDE EFFECTS and allopathic medicine (classic doctors) just try to get rid of the smoke rather than put out the fire by writing out a prescription.
To make a long story short, don’t be lazy; research what unhealthy situation you are confronted with, and if you decide to see a doctor seek out a “Functional Medicine” practitioner or, maybe a “Fitotherapist”. See my December 9, 2016 dated, “A Few Notes” post.
And please don’t take any kind of medication because somebody suggested that it really helped him or her.
Lastly, don’t believe everything your doctor tells you. It is a well known fact that most doctors tell COPD patients that it is incurable, and similarly that MACULAR DEGENERATION is incurable; WELL THEY ARE NOT INCURABLE.
- MACULAR DEGENERATION
I will not bore you with the technical (medical) reasons why macular degeneration occurs. Suffice it to say that, most patients used to be told that there is nothing that can be done to improve their vision. Then, one lone researcher, Dr. Stuart Richer, OD, PhD, at North Chicago Veterans Medical Center, documented that macular degeneration can be reversed with nutritional supplements and dietary changes.
I’ll just show you a picture of what happens to the back of your eye when you are afflicted with macular degeneration.
I understand that there is now a direct injection to the eye. I don’t know how effective this is, but I do know that it is very expensive.
Give the below natural regimen a try before you start on medication or injections. You’ve got nothing to loose and might be surprised by the results.
- Habitual wearing of UV-blueblocking sunglasses when outdoors in daylight.
- Consumption of spinach and kale. Juicing is also recommended.
- A daily supplement regimen that includes:
- Lutein (6-12 mg)
- Vitamin E (200-400 IU)
- Selenium (organic, 200 mcg)
- Vitamin B12 (300 mcg)
- Magnesium (400 mg)
- Vitamin C (500-2000 mg)
- Bilberry (120-240 mg)
- DHA- rich fish oil (providing 1000 mg of DHA)
- Sulfur bearing nutrients (glutathione, ALA, N-acetyl cysteine or taurine)
- Avoid high-dose calcium supplements without balancing with magnesium.
- Avoid hydrogenated fats that interfere with Omega-3 fats.
- Avoid very low fat diets, that rob the retina of Omega-3 fats.
- Eat sulfur rich foods, such as garlic, eggs, asparagus, and onions.
- ACID REFLUX
Acid reflux is an extremely common health problem, typically thought to be caused by having too much acid in your stomach. This is a serious medical mistake that affects hundreds of millions of people.
Before getting into the cause of reflux, I’d like to remind you that the symptoms of having too much or too little hydrochloric acid in your stomach are almost identical. STOP TAKING THOSE ANTACID TABLETS before taking this simple test.
Stir a half-teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda into a glass of water and stir until dissolved. Drink it down; if you haven’t burped in 3 minutes you don’t have enough acid in your stomach. If this is the case take a betaine hydrochloric supplement.
Let’s get back to acid reflux. This is a condition in which acid is coming out of your stomach, where it is supposed to remain.
As you can see from the picture, the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) is supposed to close in order to prevent food or acid from moving back into your esophagus. Gastroesophageal reflux occurs when the LES relaxes inappropriately, allowing acid from your stomach to flow (reflux) backward into your esophagus.
I won’t go into the symptoms, because those of you who are reading this probably already know.
If you have this condition, and made the unwise choice of seeing a conventional physician for it, you’ve likely been put on a proton pump inhibitor like Prilosec or Prevacid. THESE ARE VERY DANGEROUS DRUGS.
If you are taking a proton pump inhibitor NEVER STOP TAKING THEM COLD TURKEY. Gradually decrease the dose, and once you’re down to the lowest dose, start substituting with H2 – blockers like Tagamet, Cimetidine, Zantac, or Ranitidine. Then gradually wean off the H2 blocker over the next several weeks.
Here are some strategies to help your LES get back on track:
- Eliminate food triggers like caffeine, alcohol and all nicotine products.
- Increase your body’s natural production of stomach acid. Use high quality sea salt.
- Take a hydrochloric acid supplement.
- Modify your diet – eating large amounts of processed foods and sugars is a surefire way to exacerbate acid reflux, as it will disrupt the bacteria balance in your stomach and intestine. Consume high quality probiotics like home made yogurt, fermented vegetables, and
- Optimize your Vitamin D level. It should be around 60 ng/ml.
- Implement an exercise routine.
- ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS
I’ll be brief with this one. The reason I’m writing about it, is that I recently had a conversation with an old classmate who was very insistent that SPLENDA was a very safe artificial sweetener.
First of all, there is no safe/healthy/harmless artificial sweetener. Aspartame is, of course, the deadliest. Watch the video I posted on September 28, 2015, “The Parasite That Effects 250 Million Americans. Candida”.
Secondly, don’t be fooled that the ZERO CALORIES they have will make you loose weigh. Most people gain weight.
People around the globe have reported adverse health effects related to SPLENDA. These include gastrointestinal problems, seizures, dizziness, migraines, blurred vision, weight gain, blood sugar elevations, and allergic reactions.
Splenda is not as safe as industry representatives claim it to be; the enormous lobbying power of the food and beverage industry may be largely responsible for the lack of safety studies related to Splenda and other artificial sweeteners.
Spenda is best known for its marketing ploy “made from sugar so it tastes like sugar”.
Is it really sugar?
Splenda is basically sucralose, and this is a synthetic chemical that was originally cooked up in a laboratory.
It is not that Splenda is naturally zero calories. If your body had the capacity to metabolize it then it would no longer have zero calories.
I won’t go into details and bore you. Suffice it to say, that it is a dangerous chemical to consume.
The below picture should get my point across.
That’s all for now; see you all next week
